Ontario to East Coast Freight Shipping
Dependable Freight Solutions moves commercial and industrial loads out of Ontario, through Quebec and into Atlantic Canada.
LTL, full truckload and heavy haul all run on this corridor, carried on Roll-Tite, flatbed, step deck, lowboy and RGN equipment.
Freight leaving the Greater Toronto Area for Moncton, Saint John or Halifax travels a route we work regularly, with pickups and
deliveries booked around your dock windows. Send us the lane and we will price it.
Where Our Eastbound Corridor Runs
Eastbound freight on this lane starts in Ontario, crosses Quebec and finishes in the Maritimes. Origin and destination points below are the commercial centres most often served on the run.
Ontario origin points
Quebec transit and drop points
LTL, Truckload and Heavy Haul Eastbound
Every service line we operate runs in this direction. The right one depends on how much space your freight needs and how the trailer has to be loaded.
LTL Shipping to the East Coast
Consolidated freight for shippers who need part of a trailer rather than all of it.
Pallets, crates and skidded goods moving from Ontario to Moncton, Halifax or
points between share space with other consignments on the same run.
Full Truckload Shipping to the East Coast
Exclusive use of a trailer from an Ontario pickup to an Atlantic delivery. Suited to
high-volume shipments, freight that should not be handled in transit, and loads
where the delivery date drives the plan.
Heavy Haul Transportation to the East Coast
Machinery, structural steel, fabricated equipment and other loads that exceed
standard legal dimensions. Routing and provincial permits are reviewed before the
move is scheduled.
Trailers Working the Eastbound Corridor
The right trailer keeps freight secure, accessible, and protected in transit. As a Canada freight company with varied equipment, we match each shipment to a trailer suited to its dimensions, weight, and handling needs, from weather-sensitive loads to oversized machinery. Each keeps your cargo protected from origin to destination. Here are the options we draw on most.
Roll-Tite Trailers
Sided and roofed loading for freight that has to
stay covered but still be loaded from the side
or above.
Flatbed Trailers
Open deck haulage for building materials, steel,
pipe and machinery that can be loaded by crane
or forklift from any side.
Step Deck Trailers
A lower rear deck for freight too tall to travel
legally on a standard flatbed.
Lowboy and RGN Trailers
Deep well decks for heavy machinery, with a
detachable gooseneck on RGN units so equipment
can be driven or winched on at ground level.
How Long Eastbound Freight Takes
The road distance from the Greater Toronto Area to Halifax runs to roughly 1,800 kilometres, with Moncton a few hours short of that. It is a multi-day run for any carrier, and the honest answer to how long it takes depends on four things.
1.
Service type.
A full truckload leaving Ontario runs to its destination. An LTL shipment moves with other freight and follows the consolidation schedule, which usually adds time.
2.
Where the freight is going.
Moncton, Halifax and Truro sit on the main corridor. Cape Breton, southwestern Nova Scotia and northern New Brunswick sit off it, and the extra leg is real driving time rather than a rounding error.
3.
Season.
Winter conditions through eastern Quebec and across the Cobequid Pass in Nova Scotia slow the corridor down. Spring thaw restrictions can also limit weights on secondary roads at either end.
4.
Hours of service.
Federal driving-hour rules cap how far a single driver covers in a day, and any transit estimate that ignores them is not a real estimate.
5.
Scheduling:
Pickup and delivery appointments are set at booking. Send the requested pickup date, the delivery window the receiver holds you to, and any dock restrictions at either end.

Trailer Matched to Every Shipment
Loads leaving Ontario are matched to a trailer type before dispatch, not after the truck arrives at the dock.

Dedicated Quebec Route Planning
Quebec is planned into the schedule as a leg with its own conditions rather than treated as an empty road between two markets.

Appointment-Based Delivery Scheduling
Delivery appointments at Atlantic receivers are checked against your requested window before we commit to a date.

Efficient Multi-Stop Freight Planning
Multi-stop eastbound runs are quoted as a single movement where the routing allows, instead of as separate shipments.
Eastbound Freight FAQ
How far in advance should I book an eastbound load?
Standard LTL and truckload freight can usually be arranged on shorter notice than heavy haul. Anything needing a permit, an
oversize routing review or specialized equipment should come to us as early as you can manage, because the permit lead time
sets the schedule and no amount of urgency shortens it.
Can you pick up in Ontario and deliver to more than one Atlantic destination?
Yes, where the routing supports it. Send all delivery addresses and the order you need them served in, and we will confirm
whether the stops work on one trailer or whether the freight is better split.
Do you carry freight into Quebec on the way east, or only through it?
Quebec is a served destination in its own right. A load can terminate in Montreal or Quebec City rather than continuing to the
Maritimes. See the Quebec Freight Shipping page for details on that leg.
